WOLLASTONITE FOR METALLURGY

Wollastonite in Metallurgical Applications

Wollastonite is a naturally occurring calcium meta silicate mineral with the molecular formula CaSiO3. It is unique among non-metallic industrial minerals for its combination of white colour, acicular needle-like crystal shape and alkaline pH.

Furnace operation for metallurgical applications
Molten metal casting process
Reduces nozzle blockages
Absorbs non-metallic inclusions
Works as natural low temperature flux
Absorbs alumina
Adds reinforcement and thermal shock resistance to metal casting plasters
Virtually no finishing needed for casting after mould removal
Readily fusible
Provides low viscosity resulting in higher flowability
Prevents re-oxidation
The acicular structure and alkaline chemistry of Wollastonite support its use in demanding metallurgical and casting applications.

Recommended Grade

Kemolit H-2, Kemolit H-3, Kemolit KW-2

CCMP APPLICATIONS
