Calcite and Dolomite in Ceramic Applications
Wolkem’s Calsun, Calstar and Belsun various milled grades of Calcite are used in Ceramic industry for Floor Tile, Sanitary ware, Glaze & Frit, High & Low Tension Insulator applications. Wolkem’s Dolomite is used in wall tile body, floor tile body and glazes.
Calcite for Ceramic Glazes
- Provides better bonding and green strength in ceramic glazes
- Acts as a source of lime CaO in sanitary ware glazes and floor tile glazes
- Helps whiten the glaze through bleaching action
- Promotes adherence, stability, hardness and toughness when used in proper concentration
Flux Performance
- Calcite containing CaO is the principal flux in medium and high temperature glazes
- Reduces viscosity
